Weave, a San Francisco startup developing software to measure the output of human engineers and AI coding tools, has raised a $13.5 million Series A led by Standard Capital. The company says its metrics are intended to help businesses evaluate AI spending and avoid incentives to maximize AI usage—or “tokenmaxxing”—at the expense of quality. Weave said it measures 20,000 engineers at more than 500 companies, including Robinhood, Reducto, and PostHog, and charges $50 per engineer per month, with enterprise pricing available. The 16-person company plans to use the funding for product development and go-to-market efforts. The financing reflects growing interest in measuring whether AI coding tools deliver meaningful productivity gains rather than simply increasing usage.
